Pet Poison Prevention Week

Well, Spring is here and so is Pet Poison Prevention Week.  Take a minute to review the hot topic list - perhaps there is something in there you didn't know.  Please feel free to share this knowledge with your friends and family.  You never know what could save a pet's life.

Pet Poison Prevention Week

Beyond the standard toxicities, keep in mind that objects can be dangerous as well.  Cats love strings!  Sometimes too much, and they will ingest them.  This creates a condition we call Linear Foreign Body.  The bowel begins to "climb" the string as the string eventually rips through the intestinal walls.  This is a life threatening situation.  Watch those hair ties, bathroom trash (hair), etc.  We recently had to say goodbye to a feline that was obstructed with all those items!!!!

Puppies.  What more could I say about them?  They are bundles of pure love and energy..... and curiosity!!!  They will likely put almost anything in their mouth.  Possibly ingest.  Especially if you go to grab from them - oops, there it goes - down the hatch!  Treat them like toddlers - always in sight and the floors tidy.
